On Thursday 13th March 2008 Andy and Caroline from Glasgow Science Centre came to our school.

They came to teach us about forces as part of a science workshop.

First we played a game to warm up called Switch. It was quite fun but also very tricky.

Next , Andy and Caroline taught us about forces and did some crazy experiments. These involved spinning bicycle wheels and zooming balloons.

Then Mr Trussler lay on the bed of very sharp nails! Surprisingly, he was able to it without hurting himself. Beth explained it was because his weight was spread over a large area (!!!)

Afterwards, we made and designed our rocket, We had to consider the shape of our rocket to limit friction. In my group was Lilly Ann, Thomas and me. When we fired our rocket it flew very high and managed to land in the allotments. I have never done anything like it before.

The whole morning was fun and I would like to do it again.

We’d like to thank Andy and Caroline for their excellent workshop on rockets and the very interesting presentation on forces. The children had lots of fun, while learning some important scientific facts

STOP PRESS: Mr Trussler has now made a full recovery from his bed of nails ordeal
