THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT!!!

Primary 3-4 visited the Port Mor Centre on the 19th March to entertain our friends at the PM Club.

With a focus on ‘Scots’, pupils entertained the audience with a variety of songs, poems, writing and art work.

The performance started with a beautiful class rendition of ‘I Love a Lassie’, accompanied by Mr. Trussler on electric guitar!

We were then treated to some brilliant recitations of Scots poetry by Emily Bignal (‘The Crocodile’ by JK Annand), Emma McHarrie (‘The Puddock’ by JM Caie) and Molly Clark (‘The Bubblyjock’ by Hugh MacDermaid).

Sprinkled in between these performances were some readings on  favourite places on Islay by Cameron Mackie, Calum MacTaggart and Abbie MacAulay. The children wrote these pieces with Miss Anderson, and we are hoping that they may appear in a future issue of ‘Scotland on Sunday’.

The class also performed a poem together called ‘Oh Dear Me!’ complete with actions (see photo).

The afternoon was brought to a close with a rousing rendition of ‘Loch Lomond’, ably assisted by our friends in the PM Choir!

Rev. Fulcher Wins the Lent Quiz Challenge!

Primary 3-4 have been learning about the Christian celebration of Lent in the run up to Easter.

As part of the project, they invited Rev. Fulcher into school to share with them his knowledge of Lent and the Easter celebrations. However, on his arrival, they surprised him with their Lent Quiz Challenge!

Pupils took turns to ask  Rev. Fulcher questions they had prepared earlier in their co-operative learning groups. Rev. Fulcher scored one point for every question he answered correctly, and pupils scored a point for any question that was a little too tricky!

At the end, Rev. Fulcher ran out the winner with 11 points to the pupils 9! We’d like to thank Rev Fulcher for his all his help this term.
